The 24 degrees of banking in the turns and the wide (58 feet) racing surface has produced memorable moments since the series began racing at the 1.5-mile oval in 1997.

The 2.35-mile, 13-turn street circuit on Belle Isle in Detroit presents numerous challenges to drivers -- from hard braking zones to speedy straights. The same areas are ripe for overtaking. Bell Isle has held doubleheader IndyCar race weekends dating back to 2013.

With four corners banked at 9 degrees, 12 minutes, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway drives more like a road course than an oval. But each of the corners is different, with weather influencing the car's characteristics. The straightaways are 5/8ths of a mile long -- time to catch your breath and dive into the next corner.
